The boys have been learning a few new songs at school, much to my delight and entertainment on the way home=) Wednesdays are always the best because they have chapel that day and they really get going in the car on the way home! This is a video of a couple of my favorites. Noah's version of "Peace like a river" says "peace like a river in my song". The other night Adam tried to gently suggest that maybe the words to the song were "peace like a river in my soul"...but no, Noah was pretty adamant that they are not. I believe he said something like "Dad! it's peace from GOD and it's in my song!" You can't argue with that logic...or a four year old for that matter=)
The other song is "Jesus, you are wonderful" and it is the sweetest thing to hear this coming out of my two year olds mouth=)

Let the cookie making frenzy begin!
I signed up for this thing from Real Simple magazine where they email you a new cookie recipe (every day I think?) until Christmas. I tried this one the other day and they were amazing! I planned to freeze half to save for later and they never made it to the freezer!
Gingerbread Cookies
2 3/4 C. flour
1 1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. kosher salt
1/2 C. unsalted butter, at room temp.
2/3 C. sugar
1/2 C. molasses
1 egg
1 C. powdered sugar
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, cloves and salt. Using an electric mixer, beat butter and sugar till smooth, add the molasses and egg and beat till fluffy, about 2 min. Reduce mixer speed to low and gradually add in flour mixture, mixing just till incorporated. shape into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm, at least 30 min. On a floured surface, roll the dough to 1/4 in. thick, cut with cookie cutters, place on parchment lined or greased cookie sheets. bake until firm, 10-12 min. cool completely before icing.
place powdered sugar in a small bowl and gradually add 1 TB water till a thick icing forms, transfer to a plastic bag and snip a small hole in the corner. decorate cookies and let set.
*I made dough a little thicker than 1/4 in. and they were super chewy and yummy!

playing doctor
Adam came home with some of his surgery stuff on the other day and the boys thought it was awesome! William got to the wear the hat=)
and noah used his mask as a sling-shot, very creative I thought! It took the "David and Goliath game" to a whole new level=)

"William, we don't pee on other people!"
not a phrase I thought I would ever have to use...but I just heard evil laughter coming from the other side of the yard and looked over to see my younger son trying his best to pee on my older son and he was just absolutely cracking up!!

more fall festival
At the festival at the boy's school there was this huge blow-up slide thing that noah wanted to do, so of course William had to do it too. This was highly questionable I thought, but the person in charge of it didn't say anything so we let him do it by himself. probably not our best idea...
He climbed right up the stairs like the little monkey that he is, but instead of sitting down and sliding down the slide like normal, he just launched himself off the top and then had this huge bounce when he hit the slide and it looked like he was going to fall forward headfirst down the slide! that is probably hard to picture, but let's just say it was one of the scarier moments of my life=) but somehow he ended up sitting on the slide and just had this huge grin all the way down!
