One of the other vets that adam works with has kids that are a little older than ours and they have been passing some awesome toys down to us over the past year. These dogs are the latest ones and the boys were so excited when Adam walked in after work with them!

I don't know if you can really tell from the picture, but this german shepherd is very life-like and kind of scary if you turn around and are not expecting to see a dog=) so...adam had the idea to put this in my mom's room on the bed(she stayed with us for 5 weeks to help with baby) and scared her to death, poor lady=) and after that they just couldn't stop, they are both quite competitive, one morning my mom put the dog in adam's work truck, and then he retaliated by putting it in the dryer for her to find when folding clothes, it also ended up in our shower, and on the bathroom counter! the ridiculous part was that I was the one who kept finding it around the house and getting scared! but thankfully, that is over now=) and i'm planning to take the dog and hide it somewhere, like the garbage can=)

truman's birth story

Well, the boys are at school this morning and Truman is sleeping so I have a few moments to breathe, drink coffee and blog=) Thought I would try and share a little more of his birth story, although it's not that exciting!

Basically the whole month of August we were waiting and waiting for baby to decide to come out, it seemed like it could be "any day" for a really, really long time=) My Dr. just couldn't believe that I wasn't going into labor, every week that I came in she said "wow, I really thought you would go this week", I have to admit I got a little tired of hearing that! Getting to know his little personality more and more though, I'm realizing that maybe baby Truman was just really content in there and was in no hurry to be born, he's a very sweet, content little guy! Finally, my Dr. had mercy on me and scheduled us for an induction on September 6th, surely I wouldn't go that long we thought! Honestly, I've never been so uncomfortable in pregnancy as I was that last week before he was born, I don't think I could have made it much longer.

So, the days kept passing, lots of walking around the block, lots of contractions, very little sleeping, no baby=) and then...somehow, we made it to Sep. 6th and headed in at 6 am to have a baby! Everything went really smoothly, they started me on some pitocin and a little later broke my water and then things really got going. I decided it was time for an epidural and they informed me that "epidural man" had just gone in for a c-section and wasn't available, WHAT?! So, the picture above is me waiting for another anesthesiologist to come up and give me one. I don't even remember Adam taking this picture, but apparently he thought it was funny that I was squeezing his hand so hard that my hand was turning white=)
Eventually, "fill-in epidural man" showed up and became my new best friend. Things progressed really quickly after that! We decided to call my Mom, who was at home with the boys and my brother, Jeff, and things seemed to be under control there so we asked her if she wanted to witness her grandson being born and she said, yes=) So, Adam gave her directions (she had never been to the hospital before) and told her to HURRY! When they told me it was time to start pushing she was downstairs in the elevator so we waited a few minutes and finally she walked in! also, somewhere in this process they asked us if we cared if someone training to be an EMT could observe our birth, and we said "why not", so we had a pretty full room for his grand entrance, my midwife, two nurses, adam and I, my mom and EMT guy=) I think I would have laughed a lot if I wasn't so ready to have a baby!
After a short time of pushing, Truman John Lusk was born and we were astonished to find that he weighed 9 lbs 9 oz! He actually felt heavy to me when they put him in my arms! He is just the sweetest thing though and we are all in love with him=)

Happy Momma. This picture really makes me laugh because, yes, I do look happy, but also a little like an insane lady=)

Happy Daddy

Happy Grandma=)

Noah's first time fishing

Noah has been asking for a fishing pole every since we saw one at a Dick's Sporting Goods and his birthday finally came so he got one. We went to the pond at the clinic and had surprisingly good luck with good old fashioned worm fishing.

So Proud!!!

Caught three fish that day and I think he has a new favorite hobby!!!
